Menswear Union Tags

A little cheat sheet I made for dating Union-made vintage menswear.  Especially with the ACWA tags, you can narrow the window quite a bit. 

UNITED GARMENT WORKERS OF AMERICA:

Tag used from 1891-1929.

Tag used from 1891-1929.

Tag used from 1930-94.  Manufacturer numbers relocated to the middle of label.

Tag used from 1930-94.  Manufacturer numbers relocated to the middle of label.


AMALGAMATED CLOTHING WORKERS OF AMERICA (ACWA):

Although formed in 1914, the ACWA did not begin using labels until 1933.

 
Tag used from 1934-35.  Look closely and notice the copyright date of 1934 in bottom middle left.
